Samsung Tizen powered smartphones were rumoured to go on sale by December but it was delayed. Finally, the company announces the Samsung Z1 smartphone which is the first budget phone with Tizen OS.
Samsung Z1 with Tizen OS Specifications
The Samsung Z1 features a 4-inch (800 x 480 pixels) PLS display which is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor with Mali 400 GPU. It has 768 MB of RAM and comes with 4 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Tizen OS 2.3 and not Android 5.0 Lollipop.
The Samsung Z1 comes with a 3.1-megapixel rear primary camera with LED flash. On the front, it has a VGA front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It weighs only 112 grams and is 9.7 mm thick. The smartphone also has Dual SIM.
On the connectivity front, the Samsung Z1 has 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1 and A-GPS. It has a 1,500 mAh battery under the hood with Ultra Power Saving Mode that extends its battery life.
The smartphone also comes with premium content which are absolutely free to access. It offers free access to 270,000 songs and over 80 live TV channels via Club Samsung. Hungama Music, nextGTv and Box TV subscriptions are also free for a period of three months. The phone powered by Tizen OS will also let us enable SOS alerts. It can be initiated by pressing the home button four times. It will send “Help” message to the user’s primary contacts which will help to track the location of the user to provide assistance. Samsung Z1 also comes with built-in AntiVirus protection. It will automatically check for viruses when you install any app, check or send email, etc.
The Samsung Z1 will be available in Black, White and Wine Red colour variants. It has been priced at Rs 5,700 and will be available across India starting today (January 14). Reliance and Aircel users will be getting 500 MB of 3G data for free per month for six months.
Today, Microsoft has launched their most affordable budget phone, the Lumia 435 and Lumia 435 Dual SIM. Samsung recently launched the Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3, and also the Galaxy E7 and Galaxy E5 in India. Samsung Gear S Tizen-powered smartwatch is also available in India.
